The mala is made from Turquoise and with Snow Crystal spacer's and guru beads. Turquoise from the Himalayas is remarkable for it's quality and hue. Snow Crystal's are one of the most rare crystal's in the world. They can only be found in the Himalaya's in altitudes between 18,000 and 23,000 feet. The beads are 8 mm.
In Tantric Buddhism malas have 108 beads used to count mantras one mala counts as 100 and the eight extra are to be dedicated to all sentient beings the practice as a whole is dedicated at its end as well. Some practices suggest that you use a certain kind of mala for counting the chants that are part of that specific practice. Many people like to wear a mala on their wrist, which should always be on the left hand.
